Sometimes, when we are traveling for our vocation, we may head to a destination where our family and friends are living. This is wonderful, because in addition to spending some time with them, we may be able to be a guest, for the duration of our trip, in their home. This will help to keep us from renting an hotel that we cannot afford.
However, sometimes we will choose to stay in an hotel and when we do this, here are some safety tips for us to observe during those times.
Choose a Safe Location
All hotels are not located in neighborhoods that are considered relatively safe. Therefore, when researching for which one to give our business to, we should look for one that is located in a well-lit area and one that is easily accessible to the public.
Lock deadbolt
We may take it for granted that the room we are staying in is safe and this is a wonderful thought, but it is not necessary so. Therefore, it is best to use the deadbolt whenever you are in the room. This can also help to prevent unexpected workers from entering. Nevertheless, the worker may knock before using his/her key, but you may be in the washroom and may not hear the knock.
See Door Close
Whenever you are leaving the room, always stand at the door to make sure it closes and to take it a step further, turn the handle to verify that it is closed.
Check Before Opening
If you are or are not expecting someone, make sure that you are certain about who is standing on the other side, before opening the door.
24 Hours Front Desk
It is a good idea to book at an hotel that has a 24-hour front desk service because it is good to know that we can reach an hotel representative at any hour of the day.
