Popular San Francisco Tourist Attractions

The city by the bay... San Francisco. This city is a wonderful tourist attraction, boasting nearly 16 million visitors per year. Located on the coast of California, it is enticing to tourists for the broad range of activities it offers.

A tourist can get a San Francisco hotel that is set right on the beach, and spend his vacation lounging in the sun. Or he can go visit the Golden Gate Bridge, a national landmark. In a city teeming with so much life and culture, a tourist may actually wish he had more time on his vacation to visit all of the wonderful places.

For a tourist set on seeing the most popular sites of the city, Fisherman's Wharf, Ghirardelli Square and Pier 39 are three of the most popular attractions. These three attractions are what most of us envision when we think of San Francisco.

Another very popular site is Alcatraz, which is a former prison located on an island outside of San Francisco. The only way to get this prison is by ferry. An inmate here would have a very hard time planning and pulling off his escape.

Of course, if a person visits San Francisco, he can't forget to stop at the Golden Gate Bridge. This is a tourist site familiar to almost everyone. Built in the 1930's this bridge was brought to existence through the vision of one man who refused to let the beliefs of others stop his dream. The bridge is nearly a mile long and stands over two hundred feet above the water. It is absolutely a must-see in the area.

So, if you are planning a trip to California, book yourself a San Francisco hotel and flight, and set out to enjoy the wonders of this city.
